Lock-free coauthoring in Microsoft Word allows multiple users to edit the same paragraph simultaneously, enhancing real-time collaboration. It will roll out globally from mid-May to early June 2026, enabling the feature by default without admin action. Older versions fallback to existing coauthoring; no changes to permissions or storage.
